The AIMS assessment process for Pathology Collector / Phlebotomist ANZSCO 311216 is as follows:


Step 1

Read the Guidelines very carefully before applying. In the Guidelines, you will find the eligibility criteria to be assessed as suitable for the Pathology Collector / Phlebotomist ANZSCO 311216 occupation, compulsory evidence requirements

Step 2

Step 3

Complete the Application Form in full. If the section on the form is not applicable to you, you may leave it blank or add 'N/A'. 

Step 4

Attach a certified copy of your qualification certificate/testamur.

If you do not have your certificate or testamur, because your educational program has been completed but not conferred, you may attach a statement of completion issued by your educational institution.

 Step 5
 Attach a certified copy of your official academic transcript(s). Transcripts must list the FULL names of your units. Include a program description or syllabus issued by the educational institution.
Step 6

Attach a certified copy of your current first aid certificate.

Step 7

Attach a certified colour copy of your identification document, i.e. your bio-data page of your most recent passport.

Step 8

Attach a copy of your English Proficiency Test Report from one of the following:

  • IELTS (Academic or General Training)
  • TOEFL
  • PTE (Academic)
  • OET

PTE (Academic) and OET test reports must be submitted online to the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists. The English Proficiency Test Report must also meet the scoring requirements listed in the Guidelines.

Step 9

Attach a certified copy of an employment verification letter for each claimed period of relevant work experience. The letter must include:

  • Applicant's position title
  • Average weekly hours worked
  • A bullet point list of duties
  • Specific start and finish dates of each period of employment (day, month and year)

The letter must be on a company letterhead, signed and dated by your supervisor, line manager or HR department officer, with the full name and position title of the signatory listed under their signature.

Step 10

Attach a passport size photo to the front page of your Application Form.

Step 12

The AIMS National Office will email you confirming that we have received your application.

 Step 13

AIMS will email you a unique Lodgement Reference Number (LRN) within ten (10) business days of receiving your application and supporting documents, along with a separate email with invoice for the assessment fee.

Payment must be made to progress your application.

Please note: Assessment fees are non-refundable once application processing has commenced. Applications remaining incomplete for more than 12 months may be withdrawn and closed by AIMS.

 Step 14 

Once payment has been received, AIMS will verify your credentials. 

AIMS will contact you if we are unable to verify your identity, English proficiency, employment, education, or registration/licensing (and the accompanying supporting documents), and allow you to rectify any issues. 

If AIMS suspects a fraudulent claim has been made, we will notify you and the Department of Home Affairs.

 Step 15

Once your application has been processed, you will receive an email containing your AIMS Skills Assessment ID.

Your Application Form and supporting documents will be sent to the AIMS Assessment Committee for processing.

 Step 16  After the AIMS Assessment Committee completes their assessment, your assessment results are sent to the AIMS Ratification Committee (this committee is comprised of senior AIMS representatives).
  Step 17

Your Stage 1 Skills Assessment Results Letters are written, reviewed, and signed by the AIMS Chief Executive Officer.

If you are assessed as eligible for the AIMS Pathology Collector/Phlebotomy Examination you will also receive a Pathology Collector/Phlebotomy Examination Invitation Letter and a Pathology Collector/Phlebotomy Examination Application Form.

 Step 18

The AIMS National Office will email your Stage 1 Skills Assessment Results Letters to the email address you provided on your Application Form. If you have an agent or representative they will be copied into the email.
