The Australian Journal of Medical Science (AJMS) is a peer reviewed scientific journal published quarterly by the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists.

The Journal has been in continuous publication since July 1936 and currently has a print-copy circulation of 1500 copies distributed to members of the institute and to subscribers in Australia and overseas. The AJMS is listed on the Register of Refereed Journals by the Australian Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and is abstracted through the Australasian Medical Index, Chemical Abstracts and EMBASE/Excerpta Medica.

Submissions to the AJMS

The Journal welcomes the submission of high quality articles from all authors in the field of medical science (both diagnostics and research).

All submissions must fully comply with the Journal style as outlined in the Instructions to Authors.

Manuscripts that do not comply with these requirements will be returned for revision before they are considered for publication.

Become a peer reviewer for the AJMS

We welcome enquiries from experienced scientists who are interested in joining the Journal’s Review Panel. Reviewers can normally expect to receive up to four articles a year which should be completed and returned to the Editorial Office within three weeks.

Reviewers should have a good in-depth practical and theoretical knowledge of their field, however, previous experience as a reviewer is not essential. Experience with writing articles for publication, or for other purposes such as diagnostic reports, conference or in-house presentations, or for management purposes, is an advantage.

Non-AIMS members can subscribe annually to receive all hard copy issues. Digital copies are also available upon request.

The AJMS is distributed in print copy to over 1,500 AIMS members and subscribers of which 200 reside overseas.

Our subscribers includes universities, libraries, laboratories, companies and private individuals. Further exposure is also obtained in digital form through abstracting in serial catalogues such as the Australasian Medical Index, Chemical Abstracts and EMBASE/Excerpta Medica.
